Medicare open enrollment begins Thursday, Oct. 15, and runs through Dec. 7 for coverage to begin Jan. 1, 2027. DuPage County Community Services offers assistance to residents through the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP). Other area agencies also offer SHIP.
SHIP counselors, trained by the Illinois Department on Aging, can answer questions and provide information on Medicare. They can assist residents in comparing plans, reviewing coverage, applying for Extra Help, and filing complaints or appeals.
Current Medicare clients and Medicare-eligible residents can call Community Services at 630-407-6500, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, to schedule an appointment. For more information, visit our website at DuPageCounty.gov/community.
