The DuPage 100 Day Homeless Veterans Challenge hosted a Landlord Engagement and Resource Fair on April 22nd at the American Legion Post 76 in Carol Stream as part of a statewide 100-Day Challenge to house U.S. veterans experiencing homelessness.

The fair connected landlords with veteran housing programs and highlighted the benefits of participation. Representatives from federal and local organizations were available to explain their programs and answer questions. In addition, current landlords shared their experiences and the advantages of working with these programs.

DuPage County, in collaboration with its Continuum of Care partners and RE!NSTITUTE, a nonprofit that facilitates 100-day campaigns, is working toward the Challenge’s local goals of housing 24 veterans and connecting 100 percent of veterans in Emergency Housing Assistance with at least one community service.  The Challenge began on March 10th.

Key partners include Hines VA, the DuPage Veterans Assistance Commission, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, DuPage County Continuum of Care, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, and DuPage Housing Authority, along with the DuPage Homeless Veterans Taskforce, DuPage Pads and other local service providers.
