Beginning the week of 7/8/25, residential customers of ComEd with past-due balances and who are at or below 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Level may qualify for grants up to $500 for their utility bills. ComEd teamed up with Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago and the Salvation Army to launch this new ComEd Customer Relief Fund.

Residents started seeing the increase in their electricity bills in June due to ComEd’s increased utility costs being experienced across 13 states. Contributing factors include increased demand, power plant retirements and more frequent extreme weather. For more information on the increase, see the attached flyer. Residents are encouraged to apply for payment assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), dupagecounty.gov/liheap, as well as the Low Income Discount Rate Program. Other bill assistance and energy saving tips can be found at ComEd.com/BillSupport.

Also part of this new program, qualifying 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations may be eligible for grants up to $1,000. For more information and to apply, visit www.comed.com/relief for step-by-step guidance. Apply online for the new one-time grant or visit a local Salvation Army site.
